I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Kin Insurance in Dec 2024
Interview
I went through several rounds with Kin, including a take-home coding project, behavior interview, and a coding interview focused on my project submission.
I was impressed by the clear interview briefs I received to prepare for each round, and the detailed feedback I received from the hiring manager at the end.

What's a common mistake you see junior engineers make?
I applied online. I interviewed at Kin Insurance (Denver, CO) in Jun 2026
Interview
Had a call with a recruiter where I was told there would be multiple rounds of interviews, starting with a take home assignment. However, after submitting the assignment which I felt was a very efficient and clean solution, I was rejected. After looking at the collaborators I was told to invite on github, only the bot had accepted.
My only logical conclusion is that either the solution was never seen or it was literally fed into a bot for a pass/fail. After looking at some other reviews, it seems this is happening to other people as well.
If you interview here, maybe save yourself the time and just feed the prompt into a bot as well - They probably talk better to each other
I applied online. I interviewed at Kin Insurance in Apr 2026
Interview
As another reviewer noted above, I completed a take home project, followed by a rejection email (from the recruiter) with no feedback. I then checked the invites on GitHub and they'd all expired. No one had even looked at looked at my submission. Maybe just pass on this company if they reach out to you - time wasters, I won't bother applying again.
First I had a phone screening. Then I was offered a take home challenge. Do not make it overcomplicated. Just make it a ruby script. I did not make it the take home because I made a ruby on rails app that satisfied the user stories
