      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. I interviewed at Kinly (Sunbury, England) in Mar 2023

      Interview

Two stage interview. First stage was great with the Head of and other HRBP. Second interview with Director. Agency received feedback on a topic that wasn’t discussed and this was the reason I wasn’t progressed. Very confused and frustrating. The day after the interview they decided to change the role to an FTC as well. Not fair to put so much effort into a process and then change the requirements.

Thank you for your feedback we are sorry to hear you had a negative experience whilst interviewing for a role with us. Kinly is an evolving business and on occasion we do have to change our requirements throughout hiring processes; we try to communicate this as early as possible. We always support 2 stage interviews to get to know candidates in greater depth. We have also followed up your feedback with the agency supporting with said role. Always happy to discuss further people@kinly.com
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Kinly (Sunbury-on-Thames, England) in Nov 2023

      Interview

My first interview with the Head of HR UK and another HRBP went extremely well. It felt like it was a conversation rather than an interview and I was immediately put at ease. I was contacted the following day by the Recruitment team to arrange a second interview with the Global Head of People. In the meantime I was asked to complete a personality questionnaire. Which I did so and sent back to the team. The morning of my second interview I was sent the outcome of the questionnaire. I was absolutely gobsmacked with the results. It was so negative, it didn’t relate to me at all and to be honest really knocked my confidence. Based on this questionnaire, I wouldn’t have employed me either. Going into the second interview I was nervous, which was something I hadn’t felt the first time around. It was clear my interviewer wasn’t impressed with the personality results either and had already made an assumption of me. I was immediately on a back foot and spent the time having to justify myself. Whereas in the first interview I felt quietly confident the role was mine. After leaving the second interview I knew I hadn’t stood a chance. The experience has had a negative impact on me and it’s clear this business puts more faith in algorithms than human beings.

      Question 1

According to the questionnaire you don’t suffer from stress. But I think everyone suffers from stress. What do you mean by this?

Good morning, We appreciate you taking the time to share feedback about your recent experience of an interview process with Kinly. We are sorry to hear that you had a negative experience, in particular, with our externally provided personality questionnaire and that you believe it had a significant impact on your second interview. We understand that personality assessments can be subjective and that the results may not always align with an individual's true personality or output. That being said, I understand from the hiring manager(s) that it was made explicit that the assessment would not be used as a marker following your email ahead of the interview and also at the start of the second interview on the basis that the scoring suggested that the answers given didn't show enough consistency to be considered accurate, you will recall the accuracy score was 3 out of 10. We are committed to hiring the best possible candidates for our roles, and we value the input of all our candidates. We use a wide variety of tools in pursuit of this but we are conscious not to rely too heavily on any particular component. Thank you again for your feedback. We value your experience and appreciate you raising this important issue, should you want a further debrief regarding your interviews please do not hesitate to get in touch.
