Initial phone screening with the recruiter was really great and it lead to a second interview with the director of design and another researcher.
After an hour long interview I received a generic 'Thanks so much for your interest in Kira Systems. We have decided that we are going to move in a different direction.' email 20 minutes after the interview. I was surprised to get that kind of email after having gone through a pretty in-depth interview and reached out so I could get feedback. The decision not to move ahead was made fairly quickly so there had to be a good reason why.
I was told I would get feedback and that was two months ago. I still haven't heard back. I read all the time on LinkedIn how candidates want feedback from the interview process since they've invested so much time into preparing for an interview so I know I'm not alone in wanting this.
It's unfortunate that what could have been a pleasant interview process was soured due to lack of empathy.
