First step was a phone screen, which was pretty straightforward, where we discussed my relevant job experience. The team lead seemed really nice. Next step was a SQL assignment which you had 24 hours to do. By the time I got to this part of the interview process, I had already received a job offer from another company, and was in the final interview stages with a couple others, so I opted out of this assignment. I did read it over though, and it seemed a bit excessive by take home assignment standards, especially for someone who was working full time and only had so many hours in the day to devote to this. In the future, I think it would help to either make this an assignment that is intended to only take less than a couple hours (if they only want to allot a 24-hour time frame for this test), or give a full week to complete the take home in its entirety.

One of the best interview processes I’ve gone though! The interview consisted of 4 stages: recruiter phone screen, hiring manager screen, take home assignment (3 hours), and 30 min presentation + full day of 1:1 interviews. Christine (recruiter) and Kristy (hiring manager) were super friendly, engaging, and communicative and made sure the entire process went smoothly. I had a positive impression of the team and company culture and it was clear everyone was passionate about Kiva’s mission and impact.
