I applied online in September 2016 (for Toledo, OH) and instantaneously received an e-mail asking to set up an interview time. There were numerous dates and times to choose from, and I chose one about 6 days later.
The interview was a group interview. They had 5 of us sit at a table in a conference room with the HR director. First, we were told to fill out a paper regarding our availability and then to sign it. The interview was very simple and easy, no questions really had to make you think long or hard. The plus side of a group interview is that they take turns putting everyone on the spot, so you have some time to think about your answer before they get to you. The HR associate writes down your answers to each question, however, was given very little room on her paper to write, so halfway through your answer she would stop writing.
After the questions were finished, she explained a little bit about dress code (business casual: no denim, open toed shoes, or sleeveless tops), pay rate, the company, expected hours. She said our positions lasted from our date of hire until January 7th, 2017. Then she went into detail about the positions available.
There were 4 departments looking to hire for seasonal - shipping/receiving, customer service, home/kids, and women/juniors/men. She read the job descriptions then went around and asked each of us which one we would be most interested in and how many hours we would like to work.
After that, she opened up the floor for any questions. I asked if they tend to hire seasonal associates as permanent associates, and she said that they have to double their sales force for the holiday season, so it is not very likely to get hired. However, they judge it based on what permanent positions are available, what your supervisor says about you, how well you did your job, and your attendance. Basically you cannot miss a single day of work or you're out.
Before we left we were given a card regarding information on how we will find out if we got an offer. The same third party service will e-mail you 24-72 hours after the interview. I received my offer about 22 hours after my interview, however, it did not mention which department I was put in. It only said "seasonal," so I'm not sure what my offer is even for.
Overall, the interview was not the most professional one I've been to. It seems like they really don't care much considering it's just seasonal. I feel like I left the interview and still didn't have very much information about the store.
