Had a very quick phone interview and then a 3 hour interview at the corporate headquarters. Started with general interview questions with engineering team and testing knowledge with equipment regarding how to deal with customers and design. Also, tested on ability to operate tractor.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Kubota Tractor (Grapevine, TX) in Aug 2019
Interview
Painful! It was a phone interview. When I answered the phone, after saying hello I didn't even get a hello, just "This is XXXXX XXXXXX with Kubota who am I speaking with." Red Flag #1. Answered that question then got, "I'm out of my office and don't have your resume in front of me will you read through it for me?" Red Flag #2. Why was the interviewer prepared for the interview? I briefly described my work experience and education. When I finished there was a long pause. I asked if I needed to go into more detail on anything and again responded to with a long pause. Then straight into another question with no acknowledgment over anything I had said previously. Two or three awkward questions later I'm asked if I have any, which I do. My first question is what is the daily responsibilities and prospects to moving up. This is an entry-level engineer position for some one about to graduate. I have previous work experience because I'm changing careers. Apparently I said something wrong and got the hierarchy of the company and its positions confused and was told that the generic position title I used as a potential future position was, "below the one I was interviewing for so this position probably wasn't for me, have a good day." That was the end of the phone call. No explanation about how the companies hierarchy is labeled or works just hung up on me. The entire thing lasted about 7 minutes and was completely unprofessional the whole time.
