Interview
Weird group interview. Currently I’m a manager with natural leadership skills. I was looking to get into LL Bean During the process the other people in the interview gravitated toward looking at me while giving their answers. The two men interviewing were writing during the process and were not engaged with us. Even when the two guys left the room, the other applicants gathered around me and asked my opinion on how they were doing.
Then we were instructed to put together a tent. I get it it but how lame. A bunch of women dressed for an interview crawling around the floor while two men stood over them. Kind of creepy imo. Only one of us (not me) knew what we were doing but it didn’t really matter.
Later we were all offered jobs which I found silly since one person in the group interview was not doing well at all. So it was clear we were going through all that and it didn’t really matter. We were all going to get the job.
I was assigned to meet with the head guy afterward (we all met with someone), and it seemed that he would have noticed my leadership abilities but instead he said he noticed I was empathetic. I’m not sure that would have been his observation had I been a man. Gross.
I declined the job in the end since the pay was surprisingly low, and there were no guarantees of hours.

Mine was a group interview. You go around the circle and answer basic questions focused on your experiences and activities in the outdoors. Very simple. Took less than 30 minutes. Friendly group leader made the time go by quickly.
Started with a call and then a group interview with easy quick questions about yourself and experience followed with pretend sales examples using their own products to see how you hold a conversation and explain their products.

Share your “story”. How familiar with the LLbean brand are you. Have you ever worked retail or had any relevant positions - never working retail isn’t a deal breaker, if you are personable they will train you on customer service.
