      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at LGI Homes in Dec 2022

      Interview

They began with a massive group introduction and slide show. After the slide show they continued to call us one by one to interview us with rapid fire questions. The introduction took longer than the interview itself

      Sales Associate Interview

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at LGI Homes in Aug 2024

      Interview

Initially, the recruiter meeting went quick and was over in less than 10 minutes and was scheduled about a week after I submitted my application. Within another week I hear back and have a second interview scheduled. The second interview was about an hour and a half. I thought it was a bit odd that the second person included in the interview was another sales associate who had only been working for the company for 45 days. He seemed to have a lot of opinions on how the company worked and what was expected of me with such little experience. The first 45 minutes of the interview felt more like a sales pitch with a slide show. The next 15-20 minutes was a yes or no answer review on a DiSC personality assessment you did prior to the interview. Basically, double checking your answers. The next 10-15 minutes was another yes or no answer to the more in-depth personality description from the assessment results. The score from 1-10 on how accurate you think it was and what you thought was accurate and what you thought was not and why. THEN, this is where they completely lost me and why I decided to write a review because I did not see anyone else talk about this otherwise, I wouldn't have wasted my time. THEY DEMAND THAT YOU OWN AND USE A VEHICLE THAT IS LESS THAN 5 YEARS OLD. IF YOU DO NOT OWN A VEHICLE LESS THAN 5 YEARS OLD THEN YOU ARE REQUIRED TO PURCHASE ONE PRIOR TO YOU STARTING THE NEW JOB! I thought this was ridiculous because 1) it's new development and they should have models for prospects to walk themselves, so why would I need to drive them anywhere? and 2) I take very good care of my vehicle, and it looks better than most new vehicles I see out on the road. Lastly, they told me they needed 3 references which is normal. However, I let them know that I would check in with my references to make sure they were available and get the form back to them as soon as I could. They then emailed me asking me to complete by end of day at 3:30pm completely disregarding what I had said. It was clear to me this company needs to practice their active listening as they had disregarded that I was also out of state and wanted to me to fly in for the interview and then also fly in to work for them for free for 1 Saturday. They also want you to purchase a new vehicle before you even see your first paycheck. Then work long days from 8:30am to 7pm with split days off and Soley commission after your first 100 days. The only reason they are able to do this is because they provide benefits in the amount of 50%. Overall, I was not impressed and decided to decline moving forward.
