I initially completed a video interview but never heard back from a recruiter about the position, benefits, or what the overall interview process would entail. The first interview was with my prospective supervisor and her boss in October. Then, I was scheduled for a second interview in early November, followed by a third in late November with the director. Two days before that interview, I was asked to speak with another manager on the same day—back-to-back interviews. By this point, I had already spoken to 5 people for a $70k/yr position. I was also asked to submit a work sample as well.
The interview with the director was particularly unpleasant. He was condescending, interrupted me repeatedly, and insisted I answer questions in a specific way, making the experience uncomfortable. This raised significant red flags for me.
I was then asked to participate in a final interview in December—this time with two HR managers. I assumed this would finally provide clarity on the job role, but instead, it was just another generic interview. This brought the total number of interviewers to 7, all for a mid-level position.
After completing this exhausting and disorganized process, I was ghosted to then hear I didn't get the job over a month later. This entire experience felt disrespectful, unprofessional, and a huge waste of time.
