I found the job posting on Glassdoor, and applied online. I was contacted within a week to setup a phone interview. The phone interview was with a panel with people from two groups with in the lab since I was being considered for two different positions. I was contacted the same day to schedule an on-site interview. They arrange travel plans to fly me form NY to CA, they covered all cost (flight, hotel, rental car, per diem, etc.). The on-site interview was started with me giving a ~20 min PowerPoint presentation to a panel of three people on my work experience and background. Next, they gave me a tour of the facilities I would be working in. After the tour they took me to lunch off-site with the same three people from the presentation. In the afternoon I had a 1-on-1 with the Nuclear Operations Manager. It was much more of a sit down to get to know each other and discuss the atmosphere of LLNL than an interview. Following the on-site interview, I was contacted to supply references and to complete a pre-offer background check. I received the official offer about a month after the onsite interview.
