I interviewed with three different people in the following order: the Director of Talent, Director of STEM Education, and COO. The Director of Talent was very helpful. She made suggestions on how to frame my answers to focus on revenue generating possibilities and making without the use of kits. She clearly articulated the museums top priorities in filling the position. This was a new position and new Makerspace in the museum. The museum administrators had a limited view of the potential of a Makerspace. They did not ask any questions about best practices or model programs in other museums, schools or libraries. Makerspace issues such as implementing safety procedures, storage of tools, types of fabrication tools and budget for materials had not been considered. The museum has creative hands on exhibits and many camp, field trip, and teacher professional development programs tied to the next generation science standards. The people were very polite and friendly.
