I applied online. I interviewed at Lidl (Standish, North West England, England) in Feb 2021
Interview
Applied online, then telephone interview followed by interview in store.
I found the process very positive right up until the interviewer started to mention the physicality of some aspects of the job. It was mentioned more than once and I quickly got the impression that my age was going to go against me. I felt that my interview was a box ticking exercise so that they can claim to be an equal opportunities employer, as stated on their career website.
Very straightforward process.
One person interviewed me and asked a few questions.
Did not last more than an hour, if that.
I had one interview and then an offer was made.
Phone interview and then in person interview. Pretty quick and easy and doesn’t take long to hear back. Questions are pretty standard like ‘why Lidl?’ and ‘what’s your favourite item we sell’. Also a few scenario based questions.
I applied online. I interviewed at Lidl (Cardiff, Wales) in Jan 2026
Interview
Really nice manager and chill atmosphere. Didn't ask me any scenario based questions or any that I had to provide a "star" like paragraph; more focused on how prepared/ committed/ able you are to do a lot of work.

Question 1
Why Lidl?
What hours can you do?
Where can you see yourself working in the shop?
