Normally I wouldn't split hairs but I feel like it's important to let others know things like this. Recruiter reached out to me on LinkedIn. We chatted for about 30mins, typical first call. Felt great. She mentioned there was another candidate; internal - contractor doing the job, so they'd benefit from knowing the role already. Ok - I feel confident in my abilities either way. Requested my resume. Emailed it. I was told I'd hear back in a day. I emailed a follow-up, and another. Gave my search & candidacy progress. Nothing. Finally heard back - hiring manager making an offer to the internal candidate. Didn't bother with any interview. Maybe not a big deal but clearly they needed to say they tried to recruit the position. Poor handling.
