The hiring process is managed by a 3rd party team. I had two phone interviews with two different people on the team that I felt went well. They told me they would follow up in a couple of days, but it ended up taking close to a week. I received an email stating that the company wanted a new team member to be a part of the interview process and so they would need to delay things for a couple of weeks. After not hearing back, I sent a follow-up email to check-in and after another week got a generic (automatic) reply stating that they moved forward with another candidate.
The reply felt very indifferent. It was inconsiderate to not notify me in a more professional manner given the time I had invested in the interview process.
As an additional note, I was concerned that they were disinterested in supporting remote employees given the status of COVID and made it clear that all employees would need to be in an office as promptly as possible. Given the uncertainty, a responsible company would be more mindful for the safety of their employees by supporting remote employees right now.
