I applied to a position with close to a 50% range, and indicated my desired salary was in the middle (eg, range was 100 - 200, my desired was 175).
I received an invitation to interview, and the HR rep started the call by saying that the range was actually 100-110.
Normally, I'd have just let it go, but in this case, I thought I'd post on Glassdoor, and help them by letting their head of HR know - not to get anyone in trouble, but to mitigate any reputational damage by discontinuing this practice (assuming it was intentional).
So if you've applied here, and have an interview, don't assume anything. Make sure you go into the call w/the salary range they advertised and the amount you stated as your desired level.
