LinkedIn Media Solutions Manager Talent Solutions interview questions

Hugely disappointing experience from a company who class themselves as the future of recruiting. Initial call with the LinkedIn recruiter; was contacted 20 mins after it should have begun with an email saying it would be postponed for half an hour. Appalled by the unprofessionalism. Call itself pretty standard. This led to a video interview with the hiring manager. This call went well. Was told that I was overqualified but they were looking to expand and create team leaders within the year making my profile interesting from that perspective. Next step was a panel interview with 3 colleagues. I was sent a case study and had a week to prepare a presentation. One evening before interview, the recruiter called and informed me I had been sent the wrong case study and therefore prepared the wrong content. I work a fulltime job and had spent a considerable amount of my spare time preparing for this. I had also asked specific questions about the content of the case study which had been passed from recruiter to hiring manager and answered for me - nobody even noticed their mistake during this process. Recruiter sent me the new case study and rescheduled for one week later. This didn't fit my schedule but when I said so, there was a lot of fussing since “all candidates only get one week to look at the material”. I reminded them that there had been no mistake on my part. Ok, I know mistakes can happen but I was riled by the way I was treated despite it being due to their unprofessionalism. A little flexibility or humbleness would not be amiss in such situations. New case study consisted of 2 different presentations, one of them I could choose a topic related to recruiting the other was based on a fictional client who was looking to fill 2 rolls and increase followers to his LinkedIn page. Both tasks were pretty basic but I will say the slides I was sent were terrible. Clearly cobbled together from different presentations and even mistakes in grammar on the slides. I mention this as it just made a bad impression on me generally. I wouldn’t go to a client with anything so amateur. There was a location change due to LinkedIn using temporary offices currently. I would have gone to the wrong offices due to lack of information on LinkedIn’s part had I not asked about this. The offices were very warm and loud due to lack of air conditioning and 32 degrees outside and only a sliding door. The recruiter who had greeted me (in football shorts and shirt) set up the conferencing equipment and said he wouldn't be able to stay due to time constrictions. I was alone in a room with a video connection to 3 colleagues somewhere in EU. The briefing stated that the presentation should be handled as if I were speaking with a client and as realistically as possible. I began and and after a couple of slides, asked questions relating to the data set. I was stopped and told I should be speaking for 15 mins before asking any questions. This irritated me as client meetings in my experience are usually a dialogue but at this stage arguing seemed pointless as the whole experience was something of a joke. Second section of the interview, I had chosen the topic “Keeping the human touch in recruiting in an age of modern technology and AI”. My feeling was, that the 3 people on the video call had absolutely no idea or thoughts on this topic at all. They showed no interest, enthusiasm or insights into the topic which gave me the impression they were completely uninterested in their sector. It was a huge disappointment and I couldn't help wondering what would Jeff Wiener think if he knew his employees were this clueless? Would he care? After we signed out of the video call, the recruiter returned and asked me how it had been. I was candid and told him that I’d felt there were gaps or misunderstandings in the briefing and that it had been ok but not ideal from my perspective. I also mentioned that the panel seemed overwhelmed by my choice of topic to present and discuss. The recruiter seemed rushed and eager for me to leave but said he’d never taken part in a panel interview so couldn’t really comment. He suggested that the panel had wanted to put extra pressure on me since i was so experienced. All in all my feeling is mostly of disappointment. I’ve read a lot about LinkedIn, I listen to their podcasts and have been impressed by interviews with top managers from the company in the past. Sadly, nothing about this experience reflected anything of the professionalism I had expected. A terrible look for a company supposedly focused on helping people get jobs.
