This company has a lot of potential and the CEO seems like a great human who at heart loves solving problems and truly cares about the experience of employees at his company. With that said, the candidate experience could definitely be more thoughtful, empathetic and responsive. While the initial first stages of the process went well, as I got further into the experience there were weeks between contact from the company and once I completed all of the interview rounds and a project, I was basically ghosted by the head of HR.
After multiple follow ups and response deadlines that were set by the company and missed I gave up and moved on. At that point I was not interested in working with a leader who didn’t value the time and effort I put into the drawn out interview process. Overall, I would say the majority of people I met with seemed excited and hopeful about the future of the team and the company, but the experience was unfortunately watered down by the head of HR. I would confidently say this was one of the most gaslit interview experiences I've ever had.
As a leader it’s important to know when/what to delegate and to trust those on your team to take on responsibilities, like in this case responding to a candidate. Having a lot of responsibilites is never an excuse, many candidates are also juggling a crazy schedule and being unresponsive and missing deadlines would never be acceptable. After all, the only person not being paid in this process is the candidate, so a response, whether it be good or not, is the very least of the expectation here. I hope with time they get this right.
I left this review because of two reasons;
1. Glassdoor is a great tool to give candidates a view into what it’s really like to work and interview with a company
2. Experiences like this are way too often swept under the rug as a personnel or growing pains casualty but it’s important and very possible to prioritize your candidate experience at every stage of the business
