Took an interview because a friend wanted me to talk to them. Recruiter screening was standard, alignment on salary (still below my range after 30% bonus, no equity; I work in tier 2 tech company like Uber, DoorDash, etc at the same level), career progression, situations, projects... Followed by a chat with a senior director. This was about hands on technical work. I'm not sure how they expect a director level role to have over 5 years progressive experience leading larger orgs and experience leading teams of 30-50, but also speak about "the most complicated bug you've fixed in the last year" or "testing tools you've used in the past 6 months". Gave high level answers but made it clear I have not written code professionally for over 3 years, but never heard back from them. No rejection, no next steps, no "thank you for your time", basically ghosted. Speaking with folks who work there, seems they're trying to "reinvent" themselves out of the 2000s, but they're not making progress, and this confirms that. Think it's better they never called back, as I don't think I'd proceed with the process any further after that interview.
