During my initial conversation with the Talent Acquisition representative, I was genuinely enthusiastic about the role and left the discussion feeling quite positive. Subsequently, an interview was scheduled for me approximately 15 days later, involving the hiring manager and the person I would potentially be replacing due to maternity leave. However, my interview experience was somewhat unconventional. The questions posed mainly revolved around my organizational and prioritization skills, with minimal focus on my knowledge of past merchandising campaigns or the tools I've utilized. Although I believed I responded adequately, I couldn't help but feel disappointed by the overall quality of the questions. Nonetheless, I received word the following week that I had advanced to the next round, which entailed an interview with the Director. This interview went considerably better in my estimation, as the Director dived into relevant topics, allowing me to showcase my experience and comprehension of the work, including my involvement in various digital campaigns from my prior experience. Subsequent to this interview, the initial Talent Acquisition representative contacted me, and shared with me that my performance in the interview with the hiring manager went really well and they were really happy and appreciative of my experience, knowledge & qualifications. During our conversation, she inquired about my ongoing interviews with other companies and even offered to expedite the process if I received an offer elsewhere. She assured me that she would provide further updates as they continued their interviews. However, after waiting patiently for 3-4 days, I attempted to contact the Talent Acquisition coordinator via email but received no response. This lack of communication persisted even after a week had passed, leading me to call the initial Talent Acquisition representative and leave a voicemail. Another 4-5 days later, I once again reached out via email but received no reply. As this period stretched on for a month, it became apparent that I had been effectively "ghosted." This experience was deeply disappointing, particularly given the reputation and standing of the Loblaw brand. Regrettably, this episode has cast doubts on my willingness to recommend the company. Such behavior strikes me as highly unprofessional, and at the very least, a simple email to inform candidates of their status should be a fundamental part of the process. Effective communication with candidates is of paramount importance. Leaving individuals hanging in uncertainty, especially in a challenging job market, is unjust and disheartening. I respectfully suggest that Loblaw Digital consider hiring individuals who are proficient in their roles and emphasize the significance of clear and considerate communication within the Talent Acquisition team, in order to prevent such experiences from occurring in the future.
