I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Localytics (Boston, MA)

Initially conducted a pre-screening call with recruitor. Then was asked to have a call with the hiring manager. At the conclusion of the call, I was asked to perform a writing test. See interview questions below.

      Question 1

You are a Product Marketing Manager at Localytics. In the Localytics Dashboard, marketers can create push notifications containing text which is personalized for each individual recipient (things like a user’s name, their hometown, etc.). Notifications that include this personalized content have an average conversion rate that’s 2x higher than the conversion rate for non-personalized notifications. One of the Product Managers you work with has come to you with a problem: It turns out that only 15% of customers are currently using this personalization feature. She believes that the lack of usage is because customers aren’t aware that the feature exists or how using it can result in higher-performing notifications. She has asked you to develop a proposal outlining the approach you would take to raise awareness about the feature, educate users on its benefits, and drive increased usage. Instructions: • Please don’t spend more than an hour on this assignment. • Don’t worry about providing the “right” answer, we just want to understand your thought process. We are looking for evidence of strong strategic thinking and creativity in your approach. • Your proposal can be in the form of a PowerPoint presentation or a Word document. • At the beginning of your proposal, please list 2-3 follow up questions you would ask the product manager and state any assumptions you are making about the situation. • Be sure to include a rationale for each item in your proposal and state how you expect each item to raise awareness and/or usage. • If elements of your proposal require specific resources (e.g. certain software, use of a vendor, etc.), you can assume Localytics has access to these resources. • Lastly, pick one element of your proposal and create a sample of this deliverable. We are looking to understand what sort of positioning and messaging you would use to encourage customers to leverage this feature.
