I emailed someone directly that I was also connected with on LinkedIn. They sent me an email and then called a few minutes later. They asked about why I wanted to work for the brand, my employment history - standard questions. After this phone call, I was invited to an interview with a member of their HR team. This went well - very comfortable environment, good questions - I was very prepared and that fact that they made me feel so comfortable made this even easier.
After this, I was invited to have an interview in-store. This is when it all went wrong: I was told to prepare more knowledge about company history, products on offer etc. I did all of this, but the people who interviewed me in-store were horrible. All of the questions they asked were about how I would handle certain situations in-store: it is understandable that there would be a few of these questions, but the WHOLE 45 minute interview comprised of these questions. There was even a "practical" stage of the interview where they gave me a very detailed customer scenario (perfectly normal), only I wasn't allowed to see/read the customer scenario myself, so I wasn't even entirely sure what I was being asked to do/say. Long story short, the fact that all of my questions were so similar meant that I was giving similar answers to each question, which of course, made me look like an idiot. Now that I think about it, I'm not entirely sure if the people who interviewed me had interviewed before - it was literally unlike any interview I have ever been to (and I had recently interviewed and received offers from Burberry & Gucci).
I was also very nervous (and I'm usually not) as the people who interviewed me in-store weren't very nice - let's just say they were exactly what you'd expect from a luxury brand - which is again very disappointing because I know from 1st hand experience that not all luxury brands are like this.
Very disappointed in the experience towards the end, however, not surprised. The HR team seems great though.
