Lovely phone screens with the recruiter and one of the engineering managers. Next step is a take home challenge with vague instructions and only a screenshot to go on by. They ask to develop a feature and write how would you test that. They don’t tell you that they expect a fully fleshed out website with working headers/footers, menus, and tests. The test is already time consuming I think they could be either more specific or reasonable with the ask.

They are looking for ruby devs only and were clear about that from the beginning. Most of the technical conversations had were around RoR, like migrations from monolith to microservices, arch choices, design choices. The recruiter that reached out to me also prepped me for these conversations, and I was never asked to do any live coding, only a take home, which was admittedly challenging and time consuming, but a well developed exercise that we leveraged for the loop conversations.
Overall, this was one of the fastest processes from start to finish with respect for my other timelines and mindfulness over expectations throughout. I ended up not getting to the very end as I accepted another offer, but I have a lot of respect for their process efficiency.
