Firstly the application process is archaic, the questionnaire and job description are not even close to useful, and the system is highly unreliable in delivering the application to the HR manager. If they select you for an interview the experience and qualifications are second to personality in most cases at the store level. You must make friends with the HR Manager. The interview questions are prefabricated generic and always the same 3 sets of 5 questions that set up a scenario and ask how you responded in the past to a similar situation and what was the outcome. Pretty easy if you can think on your feet, learn to BS a little and give them a few retail buzz words. Paint them the picture of the perfect corporate approved interaction. The truth can actually hurt you if you have any retail experience and give what really happens on the floor, leave it alone and give them what they want. They have to conduct a minimum of 3 interviews and it takes forever if you are selected for a second interview with assistant store manager you probably got the job. Harassing HR will not work at Lowe's, it is insanely slow and can take from 2 - 5 weeks to get hired. Be patient and understanding with the hiring manager, they won't forget about a good candidate.

Question 1
Not much difficulty if you know how to paint a picture of the perfect interaction. Most difficult question is how did you mess up last and how did you resolve it.

I already worked for the company, so I applied internally online. Had an interview about a week later with the zone assistant manager and store manager. All questions were situational questions. Got the offer via phone call a few days later.

Interview
Department Managers usually interview with the Assistant Store Manager of the given zone and Store Manager. Questions will be selected from categories such as customer service, sales, leadership/management, etc. It will last around 30 min- 1 hour, depending on how well you answer the questions. The more detailed and specific you are, the better. Some managers will ask additional questions in response to your answers. They always ask if you have anything else that you want to share with them--you are welcome to bring anything from previous job experiences that demonstrates that you are qualified. It's always a good idea to have a question to ask them as well.
