When I applied to Lowes I was already employed. I went for my interview, everything went well. Received a call 3 days later for a second interview at this point I was interviewed by the store manager as well. A couple days later HR called and offered me the position, I went in that day and did my drug screen and gave permission to do my background check. Before leaving I asked the HR woman, "Should I put my two weeks in at my job now?" She says absolutely you have the job go ahead and we would begin training in two weeks. Long story short, the Saturday before I was to start training I get a call to not come in Monday there was a problem with my background check. Lowe's wanted info on a charge from the courts. I had the courthouse fax Lowe's the case file and the HR woman told me she had to send the info to corporate office for review. I then waited 3 days and called HR to what the decision was. She had not heard back yet and was going to call me when she heard from corporate. At the end of our conversation I asked her to be honest with me. What are my chances of getting this job? Should I just go and beg for my old job back? She tells me don't worry about it, this is a misdemeanor charge and it occurred 17 years ago things should be fine. To be clear when I was 19 I got in a fight and got arrested for assault and a breach of peace charge. Well it has been 1 week since the last time I talked to HR and what am I to think at this point? Wouldn't they at least tell you no if that was their decision? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I mean I made a mistake when I was young, people do grow up and I have not been in trouble since. Just FRUSTRATING!!!!!!
