After turning in my application I waited 5 weeks before assuming Lowes would not be calling me for an interview. At the end of that week HR called me and said they wanted to interview but that she would be on vacation this week, so maybe next week she would call to interview. Two weeks later, I called them and left her a voicemail. There was no call-back so I called again and spoke with her. She had me come in the next day. The interview seemed rushed and unenthusiastic, not that I blame the individuals conducting it, but it was bare-minimum. It was quite basic, "name one time you provided good customer service", "name one time a co-workers poor service made the whole team suffer" etc, etc. I think two more interviews before I was hired. Please bear in mind that I have no history of past legal problems, I have a bachelor's degree from a Big Ten university, and I had 5 plus years experience in a home improvement retail environment. I had just moved to the area and was taking care of an ill family member and wanted a job to be bringing in cash. I am not sure why, among the plethora of individuals applying for retail jobs, it felt like pulling teeth for me to even get the interview/get a call-back.
