Ghost jobs, or just ghosting good applicants? I hadn't been this excited about a job posting for years. It was such a great match for my mix of skills. I got a canned ai driven rejection letter about a week after applying. I questioned that since I was such a strong match for the role. That got me an interview. It went extremely well. Global hiring head told me that I was the "top candidate", someone would have to really come in with incredible skills to edge me out of the role. But was told I had to wait 6-10 weeks for the hire. A few weeks later I got another canned rejection. I emailed to make sure it was real. I got a response, and an apology. I was told I was still the likely candidate, "they would be moving forward with me if they got the contract", and the SECOND rejection letter WAS also mistaken. 10 weeks passed with no more info. I reached out and received no response. 4 weeks later I tried again, asking that they please just let me know I'd been rejected so I could move on. No response again. So this place wasted 3 months of my time just to "ghost" me while I passed up other recruiters reaching out. My certifications relevant to the job also expired during this timeframe. Making me less appealing now to other places. My warning to you, do not let them lead you on like this, especially long term. Continue to do what you need to do for yourself. I suspect they just want to hold my info in case the hire they made didn't work out or something. Extremely disappointed, and disheartening long term ride waiting for these people. And no final answer. Be aware of what might be going on behind the scenes. Just tell people you've picked someone else, and stop stringing them on. Answer emails asking for an update and just kindly say we did something else. I wasted months waiting on what I was told more than once I was in line for. Also, fix whatever AI or non critical thinking people rejected my resume not once, but twice despite being told by the division head that I was exactly what they were looking for.
