The interview process had four stages: recruiter phone screen, phone screen with a manager, take home technical problem, in person panel and one on one interviews. The phone screens were pretty standard phone screens. I talked about my background and interested and learned a bit about Maana. I really liked the take home portion and think it is a smart way to go, especially for a smaller company. It allowed me to solve a problem that took more time than could be fit into an in person interview while not requiring too much time from Maana interviewers. Throughout my take home I worked with a developer from Maana to get questions answered about the problem I was solving. I spent a couple hours on a couple different nights over the course of a week on this part of the interview. Maana was very understanding about my schedule and did not push for the take home to be done immediately. The in person interview started with a quick meeting with a recruiter and then panel code review of my take home problem. The panel was a great way for me to explain decisions that I made and what my thought process was for my solution. After the panel I had 1 on 1 interviews with each of the panel members and talked about a very wide variety of topics. All of the 1 on 1 interviews were friendly and interesting conversations. Overall I really enjoyed the interview process at Maana. The only reason that I did not accept my offer is that I was not actively looking for a job and the whole process helped me realize the things I still wanted to get out of my current job. For me the whole process took several weeks but that was mainly due to my schedule. I think the process would have gone much faster if I wanted it too. After the in person interview there was about a week before they made me an offer.

Maana started my interview process with an hour long informational phone interview. From there, they sent a take-home coding project to be completed and submitted back to them. Following that, I was brought in for a half-day on-site interview consisting of a panel code review of my project and then a series of one-on-one interviews aimed at determining team fit.
