I applied for the position in November. Started with an initial HR Manager screening. The screening went well and was relatively straightforward. The Manager asked to keep them updated as I went through the interview process, and that I could contact them for questions through email/phone at any time (not true). I had three behaviorial interviews with different members from the Global Talent & Learning Team between early December - late January. I felt these interviews were structured okay, and very straightforward as well. Throughout this process, I contacted the recruiter after each interview and did not receive one response or reply. Mind you, all interviews were scheduled through a Talent Acquisition point of contact, not even the recruiter - and I had no point of contact info from any of the interviewers I would essentially be working with. All of my questions had to be filtered through the recruiter - who was completely unresponsive and unhelpful. My last interview (interview #4 at this point) was with the VP on the team. Had a great conversation, they were hardly asking questions mostly promoting MUFG as an organization and trying to sell it. I felt pretty good after this interview. For all of the aforementioned interviews, I would follow up with the recruiter, get no response, and then hear from someone on the Talent team to schedule typically 1-2 weeks after each interview. After my final interview, I did not hear back for FIVE WEEKS. I followed up about 3 times with the recruiter (to no response) and the Talent contact. Basically anyone I had contact info of. It is now mid-February. At this point, I had given up and had accepted that I'd been ghosted. Until I receive an email from the recruiter that I had been selected as a finalist and that they would like for me to prepare a one-page Powerpoint slide and communications to go out to summarize a program. I had 48 hours to do this assignment (after FIVE WEEKS of no response). The recruiter apologized and claimed that folks on the team were "out of town and on vacation" - and that is why I never received a response. The recruiter also noted that the team was looking to make a decision by the end of that same week. Despite my frustration, I completed the work assignment within the desired timeframe. The role was still of interest to me, and I wanted to see the process through, especially if I was considered a finalist. I sent my performance task over to the recruiter. I never received confirmation that the recruiter had received the task. And I did not hear back for another FIVE WEEKS after submitting the task and following up. At this point, my frustration grew into anger. And not because I knew I hadn't gotten the job, but for being stringed along for MONTHS by this organization up until the very end, and being so disrespected as a candidate. I finally received an email letting me know I did not get the job in mid-March, and not by the recruiter. It was an AUTOMATED no-reply message - similar to those you receive after submitting your resume and getting an immediate rejection. All this to say, DO NOT APPLY TO THIS ORGANIZATION. I have never been so disrespected throughout a hiring cycle. As someone who has hired for organizations before, even just being responsive would have changed my outlook on the egregiously long process. I am not someone who typically writes reviews, but I had to write this one. An organization's talent team is a reflection of that organization. And from my purview, MUFG is a MESS and does not care about the candidate experience - which leads me to believe they treat their employees in the same vein. November - March interview process and an automated rejection is unacceptable.
