      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Macmillan Learning in Jul 2023

      Interview

To be honest, I was pretty disappointed with how the interview process was handled at this company. I interviewed for a role back in July (applied in June). The whole process took over two months with a final decision made in mid-August. There was an extensive take home assignment as part of the interview process where I had a week to work on it. I normally am reluctant to do take home assignments, because it can be a way for employers to exploit candidates and use their work without paying them (especially without guarantee of a job). For a junior to mid level role, I didn’t think a project assignment was necessary, and providing work samples would have sufficed just as well. Regardless, I did the take home assignment anyway and completed all final interviews for the company afterwards. I was then left “warm” by the company for about a month and a half after, so they could complete their process with other candidates. I think it’s ridiculous to keep someone on board for that long if you’re not certain of hiring them. If you don’t want to hire someone, let them know as soon as possible so the candidate is not spent wasting their time waiting. For the pay and level, the interview process was a bit much for a junior to mid level role. Most people were friendly. However, I was pretty disappointed with how it was handled.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

A lot of the initial HR questions were centered around DEI. Besides the project round, most questions were skill based or centered around behavioral scenarios.
