I went into this process optimistic and ended up leaving dissapointed in their communication.
I applied online as a Beauty Advisor for Estèe Lauder on a Friday evening, and recieved an e-mail invitation to schedule an interview an hour later. I was already impressed by how quick their response was.
I scheduled my interview for the soonest available day, Monday. There were a few time windows, and I picked one in the middle, at 3:30 in the afternoon.
After spending my time printing my resume, making sure my hair, nails, and makeup were all well done(this is a beauty sales, after all), and ironing my suit, I received an e-mail at 1:00 Monday afternoon that Macy's had attempted to call me because they needed to re-schedule my interview. I checked my phone for missed calls, and I had none. The e-mail said, and I quote, 'We have tried to call you to reschedule your interview. Please return our call at your earliest convenience.
Thank you."
Thinking this may be a mistake since I hadn't received any phone calls, I called the store and dialed in for the Estèe Lauder counter. The person on the phone had no idea, but said she would call me back if she found out. I told her I still planned on showing up at 3:30 if I received no phone call, since the e-mail had errors.
20 minutes later, I get a text from the supervisor saying she needed to re-schedule me, asking if the next day, Tuesday was okay. I told her anytime after 12 was fine. We set the interview for 1:00.
I go through the whole process of getting ready again, only to receive another email at 10:30 Tuesday morning that the position was now filled.
All in all, I have to say I'm dissapointed that my interview was cancelled twice, and about 2 hours before my interviews at that. I had picked the soonest available option in their online program they sent for scheduling interviews and they filled the position before I even got a chance because they cancelled on me.
