I applied online through Macy's website and was emailed the next day to set up an appointment through an online scheduling service. At my interview the next day I arrived 15 minutes early, checked in with HR and was asked to take a seat. About 10 mins later I was brought to an interview room by a very kind young lady. [*NOTE: The interview process probably happened so fast for me because it was December, with Christmastime in full swing.]
-Why Macy's?
-How would I interest a customer to sign up for a Macy's credit card?
-How sell a customer ladies jeans?
-Then, How would I upscale the purchase?
-Tell me about a time you worked on a team before, how accomplish your goal?
-Tell me about a time you saw somebody cheating or doing something they weren't supposed to. How did you respond?
-How would I approach a customer to make a sale.
-How would I celebrate a purchase?
Those are the questions I was asked to the best I remember. My advice is to think about these questions and questions that others have posted here and be sincere about your answers. Look on their own website to learn about the highlights of their credit card to speak intelligently and to show that you care enough about the position to prepare.
I can't imagine employers aren't aware of this site and similar ones, so if they don't change their questions, you might as well use them to prepare. Think about the questions, think about your answers, then be flexible with your responses. You won't say everything you wanted to and you'll say things you hadn't prepared. It could be for better or for worse. It happens. If you go in with this in mind though it'll help you stay cool and not stumble when it happens.
Take a moment before responding to the questions, especially if its one you expected, otherwise you won't seem sincere. Be honest and be yourself.
It just might happen that you're not a fit for the position. Keep up the job search, and don't stop completing applications and going to interviews until you are offered a position. If an employer says, "I'll call you in a few days," good- pray that you'll get the position, but continue to apply elsewhere because things happen. You may never get a call, you may get a call and be told you didn't get the spot, or- hopefully- you'll be told you got the spot. Until you KNOW you have a position though, don't stop applying and making interviews.
Good luck! Don't get bitter and don't give up! Oh, and smile! Employers love happy employees, customers love happy employees, co-workers love happy co-workers, and since we all love to be loved, smile and be loved by so many people!
God bless!
