Had two interviews with two different stores. The first was for a temporary sales associate at the Westside Pavilion in Los Angeles, and I absolutely enjoyed every second of it. From the moment I walked in the staff was friendly and it was easy to get comfortable. They helped me find my way to the human resources department, and gave me advice while I waited for my interview. The manager in charge of training new employees was the one who interviewed me. Questions revolved around sales for the most part. First question was why I wanted to work there, how I would encourage a customer to buy more(pair the jeans with a shirt, or even show them more of the same brand), and what I knew about the Macys credit card and how I'd present it to customers. Unfortunately, I came too late during the season and they were already full, but she put me on bench just in case something came up. Even though I didn't get a job, I was happy to gain that experience. Wonderful people working there.
My second interview at another mall in Los Angeles(not too far from the first) turned everything from the first upside down. As soon as I walked in, I received stink eyes, and everyone looked as if they hated their jobs. While waiting for the interview, none of the employees bothered to look at me and the ones who did, didn't even bother to return a smile. The interview process was uncomfortable, it made me want to get out of there asap! This position was for a beauty advisor, and though I didn't have much experience, I made sure it was clear that I was willing to learn. But the interviewer made himself clear that he didn't have the time of day for me in his own rude way. Didn't even want to give me eye contact while interviewing me. Was out of there in less than 10 minutes. Questions were basic, why I want to work there, what make-up experience I had, if I knew any of the brand they sold there, and if I am comfortable touching other peoples faces.
