I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Macy's (Detroit, MI) in Jun 2013
Interview
I have a few years of LP experience and decided to apply to a position that opened the area. I applied online and was contacted for a phone interview with the LP Manager. The phone interview was mostly about employment experience, why I applied to Macy's, and what my goals were within LP. I was then asked to come to the store for a 1:1 interview. This interview took place right in the LP officer so I was able to meet and interact with some of the current employees. The first portion of the interview mostly followed a generalized Macy's interview script. After that it was mainly conversation about what I already knew about Macy's, my experience, my education, and how I wanted to advance in LP. I received an offer within a few days, but began negotiating the salary since I had a promotion on deck at my current job. I then had to do a phone interview with the District LP Manager for approval for a higher offer. She mainly asked me about my LP experience and why I would be an asset. I received another offer closer to my asking amount. I thought for a few days and was going to accept the offer. Left several messages with employees for the LP Manager, but I don't think they got to her. This particular position was re-posted before I could contact the LPM. I liked the conversational style interview thought the LPM and DLPM were professional, I just think there should be a better way to contact them directly or have HR handle accepted offers.
