I applied online and received an email 1-2 days later asking me to schedule an interview. I went to the interview in professional attire (black slacks, striped button-down shirt, flats) and sat in the waiting room. I was early so I waited approx. 10 mins before I was called in by my interviewer (who I was later told was my cosmetics department manager). The interview went very well. I told him everything that he wanted to hear (I'm comfortable with touching people's faces and applying makeup, I have good conversation skills, I know how to ask open-ended questions, I know how to make a connection with a customer, I am proficient with registers/technology). Before the interview I was under the impression that I would be working at a different counter than the one he offered. He saw potential in me and decided to put me at one of the higher-traffic counters. I did not decline. After the initial interview he told me I would receive a call from the counter's executive, which I did a few days after. I told her basically the same things I told him, which she seemed to appreciate. She told me I would hear from him again in a few days to see if I got the job or not. I didn't receive a call from him after 4-5 days and so I called the account executive back. She told me to call him again. I didn't appreciate the lack of communication on his part. But, when I did call him back he gave me an offer and a pay rate. I accepted.
