I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Macy's (Los Angeles, CA) in Sep 2024
Interview
I applied online and received a call in 20 minutes. I interviewed the next day at noon. It was a nice, quick and comfortable interview. I was told my skills would be better utilized as a captain. I was asked to come back in 2½ for a second interview with the store manager. Something seems a little off. I kept the same energy as the first interview. However, I felt something was different. I was told they had others to interview and they would get back to me in a few days. By that evening, I received 2 emails. One was a job offer for fine jewlery and the other was a denial email explaining that they had had numerous applications come in. So therefore, I went back to the previous email and followed the prompts. I was offered a fine jewlery position, not captain. I was never asked or given the opportunity to negotiate the pay rate. So in the job offer, it was the $17 per hour offered. I thought I would have been given an opportunity to negotiate the pay. It just says except or not virtually. I feel some kind of way about this. Yes, I need a job..but there are several jobs out there that pay minimum wage. I have kids to support. Fine jewlery associates receive 1%-6% commision. So, I should have asked what the average commission check looks like, so I can have a goal to plan for and exceed.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
I had 2 interviews. So there were many questions. I think the question that stands out is, what would you do if there were customers needing my attention, a meeting I needed to be at and a floor clean up to be handled. How would I handle it and rate it.
Interviewed with manager discuss what’s needed on the sales floor someone who helps customers. Learn to look product up on the computer. They let you know that the position is seasonal maybe this was said 4 to five times. Given a packet of what the pay structure is. During the interview it seemed like a sales pitch for the Macy credit card.

Question 1
Tell us a time when you made a customer feel welcome.
They have a pretty basic interview process. There are two interviews, one with a human supervisor and another with the jewelry supervisor at seperate times so you will have to come in multiple time to interview.
