I applied online. I interviewed at Madewell (New York, NY) in Apr 2022
Interview
Applied online twice and heard back only 3-4 weeks later. Not sure what took them so long....
Had a phone interview with the recruiter that lasted around 15 minutes. Pretty straight forward questions like talk about your work history, why do you want to work here, why this category, salary requirements.
Didn't hear back anything. I did send a follow up email and didn't hear anything back either. Wish the recruiter could have just emailed me back saying they decided to move on with someone else. Totally ok with me, but silence in my opinion is rude and turns me off from applying ever again.
Also, not sure who they're looking for? I had the title they were looking for, I like what I do and my resume included places very similar to Madewell/JCrew so pretty sure I was more than qualified for the job. Are they looking for someone to come in from Chanel, lol?
Just be open and communicate with your potential employees. Hiring ghosting doesn't fly anymore. And guess what two months later the position is still open...

Had more of an "intro" talk over Zoom with one of the recruiters. She was very engaging, friendly, and easy to talk to. However, I did get the feeling that rather than interviewing candidates they just wanted information about work culture.
