I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Magic Ears (Provo, UT) in Dec 2017
Interview
Answer questions from the interviewer for a few minutes, then teach an 8min demo lesson to the interviewer who acts as a student in the lesson. It was a very smooth experience, my interviewer was very friendly and helpful! She told me what they’d be looking for during my demo, which is a lot of energy and passion. They also want to see good teaching skills. I feel like after watching the preparation videos, it was clear what they were looking for. My interviewer told me that I’d hear back in 2 business days and was very informative. Overall I had a great experience and was very impressed!
Simple and straight forward. During the interview you get a task where you have to role play with the interviewer. The interviewer will pretend to be the student and you have to teach the student for a few minutes.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Lesson role play and questions about any experience you have teaching ESL.
Easy, laid back. Not too difficult to understand. Come prepared. Once you are prepared and have your props, never drop your smile or use voice drag. You won’t make it.
It was easy for me. I am familiar with online ESL companies from China so it wasn’t difficult to transfer that experience to this company. The interviewer asked about my experience, how many classes I taught and then we went into the demo class. If suggestions are necessary to help you pass she will make them and you would restart the demo. If not you don’t need to finish the demo and they’ll will in a few days send you the contract.
