I recently completed a first-round interview with MarketStar for the Inside Sales Flex Team role. Unfortunately, the experience was not the most positive.
During the interview process, the starting pay was presented as $21.67 per hour. However, there was little transparency around the pay range or potential cap. I had to actively negotiate just to discuss the possibility of a higher starting rate. From conversations with people I know who currently work at MarketStar, I’m aware that some employees have started at higher pay rates with less experience, which made the lack of transparency around compensation frustrating.
The recruiter mentioned she would call back later that evening with an update, but I never received the call and had to follow up the next day myself. Additionally, the interview was conducted with the recruiter on speaker phone, which made it difficult to hear clearly and didn’t feel very professional.
After following up, I was informed that management decided to move forward with other candidates. I also asked for feedback from the interview or from hiring management but was told there wasn’t any available.
Overall, the interview process felt disorganized and lacking in communication. While MarketStar may offer good opportunities, the interview experience left a lot to be desired in terms of transparency, professionalism, and follow-through.
