I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Marriott International (Bethesda, MD) in Nov 2017
Interview
I came in through an agency, so the interview process was very quick. Be prepared to answer the STAR questions. Situation Task Analyses Result - That means they will give you a question ie. Tell me about a time you experienced adversity or challenges at work. What steps did you take to overcome those challenges? You as the candidate will have to show them how you worked through that challenge and how you grew professionally. My advice is to take your time prior to the interview to really think of challenges you experiences in previous roles whether in communications, time management, problem solving etc.

I applied online. I interviewed at Marriott International in Feb 2023
Interview
It started with a phone call with an HR representative then moved forward to an in person interview with the supervisors of the position. The in person interview was nice and the managers I met with were very nice and easy going making the process much less nerve racking.

They asked a STAR question based on each of the competencies listed on the job description.
Interview process was average and long. I interviewed with 6 people throughout 3-4 weeks. There was a lot of back and forth but overall not difficult. You will go through a series of normal interview questions and conversation.
I applied through Marriott’s website. About a week later, I got a phone call from a recruiter asking me for an phone interview. A couple days later, I talked over the phone and was told, by the recruiter, I will be moving on to the in-person interview phase at their Bethesda Headquarters. The Recruiter told me to expect an email, from a hiring manager, for information about the next step for the in-person interview.
Well... about three weeks passed and I NEVER RECEIVED THE EMAIL. In order to get information about my application and the in-person interview, I called the recruiter- no answer so I left a generous voicemail. The recruiter never called me back, and two weeks later, I received an automated-messaged email informing me that “we will not be moving forward with your candidacy for this position”.
Despite the recruiter telling me to expect an email for the next steps, they never followed through. This experience should let you know how Marriott International treats some of their applicants with a lack of transparency and professional courtesy.
