Marshall Wace Technology Graduate Scheme interview questions

A pretty poor experience I did not receive any communications with them even after emailing to see how the progress of the application was going. I have received gotten to last round before and expected the same, they need to improve their communications with potential employees as makes me not want to work there.

- Hackerrank with relatively easy questions - 15 min HR interview with a predefined set of questions - On-site: They will not hesitate to send you home early if they feel like you performed badly in an interview and you have no chance of getting an offer anymore. The day starts off with you being given a computer and a word document containing 15 questions. You then have an hour to answer all 15 questions. You are allowed to use the Internet and use google to answer the questions. The questions are really wide-ranging and relatively open: from 'How would you get this information out of this table using SQL' to 'What is wrong with this web-parser written in JS?' and 'Given the syntax for this custom programming language. How do you write a program that prints out HELLO WORLD?' (using ASCII encoding). This is meant to assess your general technical knowledge and problem-solving ability. You then talk through your answers with a team member. After that, there is a group exercise where you are given a scenario (Stranded in a jungle and you have to choose what to take with you) and have to discuss with the other candidates who are there. You are observed by people from HR during these ~20 mins. Next is lunch (in-house) where you have the chance to talk to some people from the graduate programming the year before. After that, you have an interview with two team members where you need to present a project you worked for ~30 mins and are going through your CV for another 30 mins. After that, you, have an interview with a manager and after that, you talk to the CTO. Overall, the experience was pleasant as all the people I've talked to seemed sharp and friendly. They also reimbursed my cost for staying at a BnB the night before (the day started at 9 am in London).
