Staffing firm found me. After resume submitted to Masonite I had two interviews with Masonite. First was with PM, Business/Requirements(?), and Software/IT mgr (I think that was their titles . . . thereabouts). Second was with Software/IT Mgr and his team. Both were very easy. No coding challenges. No technical questions really. Just very specific questions to see if you fit into their overwhelming wild-fire-fighting work scene. They seemed desperate to replace people who left because the company wanted people to come back to work in the office and people refused/left as I understood it. So they changed policy to allow remote (says something that that was done after ppl left). Back filling sounded like. Also it sounds as if their processes and systems/architecture is a mess and things are chaotic and have reached that point over time under mgmt direction . . . so doubtful things would ever get better and doubtful anyone could help make a difference/improvement to me. They were hiring for a contract to hire for a year contract. After digging it sounds like it was because they have no idea what the budget will be like in a year and what their needs will be then. Mgr seemed reserved in first interview but shifted to a slightly negative condescending town in the second interview . . . coped a slight "I'm in charge as the mgr attitude". When I asked what their on-boarding plan was for the new person (which is important indicator of how they operate to me from my experience) the response I got back was "you won't get a side car" . . . "well try you out for a couple of weeks" . . . which to me means you will have to come in contributing to the mess that exists and be OK with it. As a matter of fact in the first interview they stressed being flexible with constantly changing request was key for the new person. Also the job sounded like a Laravel job . . . at first . . . "software engineering" but in the second interview the job sounded like it was part "web developer" where you created web pages for company products etc.
