Interview
My first interview was 20-30 minute preliminary HR call with a talent acquisition specialist, which was primarily informational with some general questions about my interest in the role, company, and salary/location preferences.
The second round was a 45 minute call with a program manager consisting of about 30 minutes of mostly behavioral questions, questions around my experience and interest, and about 10-15 minutes remaining for me to ask questions.
The final round was a 4 hour panel interview with a break, broken into 30-45 minute sessions with two people each and about 5-10 minutes reserved for me in each session to ask questions. The interviewers in the first session provided a very helpful overview of the day and of the people with whom I'd be speaking. The majority of the sessions were with program managers who asked behavioral and situational questions around my experience including a couple of technical questions, and at the end I got to speak to two people with the role for which I was interviewing.
Everyone throughout the whole process was kind and enthusiastic and the tone during interviews was warm and conversational. The talent acquisition specialist was also very helpful and communicative in guiding me through each step. Such a thoughtfully organized and pleasant experience overall!

Interview
Applied to multiple positions of similar roles and heard back about a screening interview for one of them a few weeks after applying. Setting up the screening call went well. The person I spoke with indicated they could not answer any questions about the job and that those questions could be directed to the hiring manager in the next call. The screening questions were straightforward. I was told I would hear back about next steps either way and then was ghosted. I found out the position was filled via the application platform a few weeks later, after unsuccessful email attempts for follow-up.

Interview
The interview was 2 main steps. 1) A ~45 minute screening phone call with a Mathematica staff and 2) A 4-hour long set of virtual interviews, broken into a handful of 15-30 minute conversations with groups of 1-4 people. One of these interviews consisted of a case study (provided a day or so in advance) where you had to discuss how you would approach an issue and then take questions. The rest of the interviews each focused on separate topics including leadership, client engagement, research interests, etc. While challenging in some respects, meeting with many different people was a good way to gain many different perspectives on the company.
The interviews themselves were engaging and interesting, focusing more on behavioral questions than experiential ones. The Mathematica staff I met with were very personable and approachable, however, there was an overall lack of racial diversity.
The most difficult aspect of the interviews was not the content, but the structure. Making the time for a half-day interview was doable for me with PTO, but would likely be difficult for someone in different circumstances. Additionally, the process took a bit of time, ~3 months from application to offer.
