      Mechanical Design Engineer Interview

      May 16, 2021
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 6 days. I interviewed at Matic in Jan 2021

      Interview

The startup contacted me and told me that they were interested after reading my resume. I was given some take-home technical questions to do which were fair as they were related to manufacturing and design. After that we proceeded with a video interview. The interviewer was 30 minutes late to the interview and was very condescending. The interviewer was acting like they had better things to do and they kept looking away and talking to other employees. The questions asked were more riddles pertaining to solid mechanics and material sciences that I'm not sure would be relevant to the job. It seems they just wanted someone who knew answers from a text book and not necessarily someone with creativity and problem solving skills. The interviewer ended our interview 15 minutes early and abruptly. 15 minutes later I got an email saying that they were not going to move forward with our other interviews. Disrespectful experience that left a bad taste in my mouth.

      Interview

Skipped screening and went straight into a take-home assignment. Pretty non-personal process. Got some feedback after submitting the challenge that was inaccurate and clearly did not take much time to go through my submission.
