The interview itself was poor. I found the interviewer to be utterly disinterested and preoccupied (her daughter was running around in the background). She appeared to be interviewing from her kitchen. Of course, it can’t be helped if this is a remote or hybrid set up, but it wasn’t professional and affected the whole mood of the call. I was only asked 3 questions, all simple, “have you multi-tasked?” being one. Majority of the 30 minute call was the interviewer explaining the role, saying things like “sometimes we might snap at each other” and “someone came here after a 20 year career at ITV and she couldn’t hack it”. Just all very negative and didn’t fill me with hope. Two weeks later, I was informed by an agency that my interviewer had gone on holiday and hadn’t passed any of my notes to the new recruiter, who had instead hired someone he liked on the spot. Is this ethical? Certainly not. I didn’t stand a chance sadly. Shame as the role seemed exciting in a growing content department.
