Took about a month overall with a phone call with VP, Engineering that was very informative. Within next couple of weeks, I was scheduled for in person interviews with 4 people--3 of whom were inexperienced interviewers who lacked enthusiasm about the role, product, and company. So, they spent no time selling what they had to offer in the job. 2 of them barely spoke, so I had to do all the prompting for there to be any interview at all, and 1 was negative about everything, including my experience, and it they didn't sound like they were open to on the job learning, or to anyone doing anything different from the way they did it.
The surprise parting gift was a Matterport coffee mug with a branded t-shirt stuffed inside that was so small that it fit an 8 year old girl. Well, at least it fit inside the mug. It was the perfect parting gift for what was total "miss" and "wrong fit" overall. Let's hope that their marketing is more on target. Dark warehouse office with cramped, poorly ventilated conference rooms, and no laughter heard anywhere. I was relieved they rejected me and quickly. It wasn't clear what they were really looking for in the role, and how employees were evaluated for retention or to be let go was tentative while they tried to figure it out. There are so many start ups in the valley that are creative and foster learning and job growth, but this didn't look like one of them.
