I had a phone interview and was brought in for an in-person interview. It was very disorganized and it took a month for them to bring me in on-site from the time I had the phone interview. I came in for a full day interview from 11:30AM to 5:30PM. My first interview was with someone very high up in the organization. She was based in Boston but we spoke on the phone because she said she was sweaty from a run-- this was the first red flag. Then, she asked me about my background and where I stand in the interview process, to which I answered honestly and transparently, letting her know I had an offer on the table that I had to respond to in the next few days (I had also told the HR person who confirmed the interview with me through email before coming in). The interview was standard and going okay, until she asked me about my desired compensation. I let her know what the offer on the table was, as well as another impending offer about to come in. Only once I told her this information did she suddenly say she thinks I'm unqualified and that the rest of the interviews would be cancelled. She only attacked my skills and called me unqualified after I told her about compensation (after she explicitly asked). She couldn't compete with the offers I had on the table, which is fine. But instead of just saying that she was rude and attacked my qualifications. I told her this was very strange and that they shouldn't have brought me in if this was the excuse as the same issues were addressed beforehand with a manager beneath her. It was a waste of my time and was overall inconsiderate. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone because if this is how they conduct themselves early on, it would only be worse once someone was in the position.
