I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at McKinsey & Company
Interview
I had never considered a career in consulting until I was invited by McKinsey to apply for their recruiting process in Brazil, and I must say I regret having decided to participate. The interview was not particularly difficult content-wise and seemed to be designed to determine whether a candidate fits into a certain mold rather than assessing linear/logical thinking, creativity, and other relevant skill sets. My interviewer was at times aloof and at times confrontational, missed key pieces of information (e.g. misstating "profits" for "revenues"), checked her phone constantly, took a call mid-answer (which obviously threw me off, as I had to stop in my tracks and restart from the top), and even failed to display the common courtesy of saying goodbye when we were done. Time management was also quite poor (2:30 for 2 interviews, which I don't believe to be the firm's standard and made the process unnecessarily wearisome). All in all, a quite disrespectful stance, which left me with a rather poor impression of McKinsey.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
"Describe a situation in which you showed leadership" (the same question was asked by both interviewers; the redundancy suggested a lack of coordination).
I applied online. I interviewed at McKinsey & Company (Brussels) in Mar 2023
Interview
First contact with the interview process was to play some strategy games called "Solve game". It's a serie of two strategic-thinking games that you have to solve in 71 minutes. It requires a global thinking and it was challenging but interesting.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at McKinsey & Company

Initial screening interview with HR and a series of case study interviews:
- 2 interviews with Associates;
- 2 interviews with Engagement Manager
- 2 interviews with Associate Partner and or Partner
Final decision and offer
I applied through college or university. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at McKinsey & Company (Melbourne) in Feb 2017
Interview
The initial contact with the head of recruitment at which point you will be selected to start the main process. The process involved 2 different rounds of interviews. The first round is with two manager level staff who will ask behavioural questions as well as administer a case interview. The second round is the same but with partner level staff. All interviews are roughly 45 minutes.
