- Approached by the recruiter via linkedin
- Got short call from him to explain the process, things that I need to prepare (mostly videos and case study from mckinsey's websites)
- Overall, there are 5 rounds of user (product owners of Mckinsey) + 1 round of recruiter
- First interview with a product owner, mainly casual just asking the experience and trying to determine how we think. In few days got news that I proceed to the next round
- Second round interview with another product owner, going deeper with the tools and methodology being used. Few days later got call from recruiter that I pass to the case study part where I can join the webinar first (optional) in order to make me prepped better
- During webinar, it is live from USA so the timezone is a bit difficult and it is using webex where you need to dial via your mobile for the audio and it is taking your phone credit
- Third round, got case study. Nailed well in the case study for logical thinking part but when it came to the math, it is very pushy in terms of time being taken. She told me it was wrong and I need to fix my approach. Fixed the approach but due to time constraint, cannot find the answer
- one week later got call from the third interviewer. Told me I don't pass due to:
- The math is not correct
- They are looking for candidate who can jump in straight to clients without any training or prep and after discussion with other 2 interviewer, they decided I'm not capable for that situation. No interviewer, webinar nor recruiter told me that these are the kind of people that they are looking for thus, my interview answers don't reflect that
- She offered me feedback and guidance to polish my interview skills and advised me to try again in 6 months
- Few hours later, the recruiter told me that he didn't know at all that these interviewers are looking for people who can go straight to clients and he also told me that I can retry in 12 months
