I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at McKinsey & Company (Nederland) in May 2024
Interview
- Apply through uploading your CV, motivation & grades
- Complete SOLVE gamification Game (ecosystem and case)
- Interview rounds with personal experience and case (in total I believe there are four)
Make sure that you prepare properly for the interview rounds, prepare 2 cases for each PEI topic (find them on the website) through the STAR method, and resolve 10-15 cases (alone or with other people) to understand where you need some additional practice like in structuring your thoughts, calculations, linking elements together, conclusions etc.
Did not make it to the next round but felt very comfortable during the interview and entire process was well organized and supported by recruiter and team connects

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at McKinsey & Company (Hong Kong) in May 2018
Interview
I had applied several times before online for the same position and kept getting an automated rejection response. I got my CV professionally done and resubmitted and got an email from a recruiter in the Asia Ops Practice a few days later wanting to speak on the phone. She didn't ask many questions but explained the next steps. The first was a case interview followed by 3-4 additional interviews. She asked me to be flexible as I was applying to a different location I was in. The case interview was scheduled for 10 PM my time 10 days from the phone call. I attend the web-ex seminars and practiced cases as I am not accustomed to the McKinsey process. I dialed in for the phone case interview and waited 15 mins and the interviewer was a no show. The interviewer was also a recruiter not a consultant. I called the original recruiter and she said she is probably held up and rescheduled for two weeks later. This time she joined the call a few minutes after the interview time. She did not apologize for missing the previous interview and we went through the case following which she explained the next steps. Did not provide any feedback at the time. The next day I received a generic email (just 'Hi' not addressed directly to me and there were other undisclosed recipients - which appeared to be sent to other candidates saying my case interview not compelling enough to go to the next stage. I hope the company understands that candidates spend time preparing for their complex interview process and this is not a good first impression of the company and also very disrespectful. It seems like this is all just a process and they don't spend time understanding the experience and talent of the people they are interviewing.
