I was immediately turned off when it came to the zoom interview. I was dressed in business casual, per the email request, wearing a button-down white dress shirt and suit coat, no tie. My interviewer came on screen wearing - I kid you not - a flat-brimmed trucker hat, t-shirt, and unkempt beard. (Who are you trying to be, Ashton Kutcher circa 2003 or some snowboarding pro?? Are you trying to be cool or just plain lazy?) His first comment to me was a backhanded "compliment" on how organized my background was, having my diplomas framed and aligned. He mocked me for my organizational skills and presentation. His zoom background was a window with sun reflecting. This was an individual who had worked at the company for 13 years. He displayed no empathy or understanding of someone with a different background because he knew of nothing else. He was trying to dig into me for personal information, to see if I had any family like he did so our motivations matched up. He was rude and arrogant with his vocal tones and mannerisms throughout the whole interview. Within 5 minutes of the interview starting, he was looking at his other computer screen doing work. At one point, to make sure he was paying attention, I asked him to repeat his question as I was giving my answer. He couldn't remember. He made continuous condescending comments toward me and my professional background/experience. He also made comments as if I had never been to the city where he currently resides. (I have lived here nearly my whole life and he just moved here a few years ago.) I was under the impression that this company had a good internal environment, but after virtually meeting with this person, I am glad I didn't advance as he would have been my supervisor. I was truly disappointed at the lack of professionalism he displayed and, by extension, Medical Solutions. He came across as someone who advanced not by quality of management skills, but simply making his numbers and/or they needed to fill the role due to expansion. You are an extension of your company - a visual representation. If this is how Medical Solutions faces its' customers, it's a wonder they're able to conduct business. Act like you've been in the end zone before.
